MEET THE FOUNDER

Hi! I’m Alice, the gal behind the blankets

Most days you’ll find me surrounded by second-hand fabrics and a little creative chaos. What begins as a pile of forgotten textiles slowly turns into something wearable - a piece with a past and a new story to live

Dusty began with a love of making things, but also a determination to be part of the change after working within the fashion industry

While working for a local brand, I helped create a Revive collection - taking deadstock fabrics from past collections and working with our manufacturers to turn them into new pieces instead of waste. It was a simple idea, but it opened my eyes to just how much perfectly good material is left behind in the fashion cycle

It made me wonder what fashion could look like if we worked with what already existed - if the starting point wasn’t new fabric, but the beautiful textiles already out in the world waiting for another chapter

Dusty grew from that question

What began as curiosity slowly turned into a deeper passion for being part of a shift toward more thoughtful, responsible fashion - one piece at a time

The name Dusty is a quiet tribute to my Grandma, who first opened my eyes to creativity. She showed me that making things with your hands could be both joyful and meaningful, and that the smallest details -fabrics, textures, colours - could spark whole new ideas

But Dusty has also grown into something bigger than clothing

Through sewing workshops and community mending sessions, I’ve found so much joy in sharing the process of making. There’s something special about people sitting around a table, learning new skills, repairing clothes they love, and reconnecting with the value of what we wear

Living and creating in the Northern Rivers constantly reminds me how important it is to care for the place we call home. Every piece I make is a small attempt to do fashion differently - slower, more thoughtfully, and with materials that already exist

Dusty is built on the belief that clothes can hold stories, that creativity should be shared, and that the things we choose to wear can reflect the world we want to see in the world

So whether you’re here to find a piece, learn to sew, mend something you love, or simply follow along with the journey - I’m really glad you found your way here!

Big love,
